New company to sell TVR sports cars in the U.S.

Taking advantage of EPA and NHTSA exemptions for vehicles older than 25 years, Tucson, Arizona-based TVR Garage offers a variety of TVR models for sale, parts, and service.

The company already offers vehicles like the Griffith 500, which was sold in the 1990s and sells for $59,950. The company also just sold a new Cerbera for $84,950.

Both models offer V-8 power and minimal electronic nannies, meaning only the brave need apply.

In the case of the Cerbera, the 4.5-liter V-8 delivers up to 420 hp, depending on specifications, and the vehicle weighs about 2,435 pounds, all of which is sent to the rear wheels.

More TVRs will soon be available for import, including the Tuscan (Speed6), Tamora, T350, and Sagaris, and TVR Garage is working with UK-based TVR specialist Str8six to help source and import specific models for those looking for them.

TVR was founded in 1946 by Trevor Wilkinson and Jack Pickard and went through several management changes over the next few decades. TVR's heyday was undoubtedly under the leadership of Peter Wheeler, who became owner in 1981. Wheeler, who became owner in 1981, was instrumental in the design and marketing of several well-known TVR models over the next 23 years, including the vehicle that established TVR's brand identity as a sports car manufacturer. Wheeler oversaw the production of the Griffith, Chimera, Cervera, and the mighty Sagaris. [Wheeler handed over to Nikolai Smolensky in 2004, and production at TVR's historic factory in Blackpool, England, ended in 2006. Since then, there have been several attempts to revive TVR, including the current attempt by Les Edgar, who unveiled a modern Griffith in 2017, but so far it has not gone into production.
