2025 Audi RS 6 Avant GT Spy Shots and Video

Audi is working on a mid-cycle update to the A6, and the new hardcore RS 6 Avant variant included in its range has recently been testing at the Nürburgring, for which prototypes have been spotted.

The hardcore RS 6 Avant is believed to adopt Audi's GT designation and will be the RS 6 Avant GT. Audi has previously used this designation for the R8 supercar, marking the end of the model's run.

The regular RS 6 Avant is available in the U.S. starting with the 2021 model year, while the hardcore GT version can be distinguished by a new front mask, a revised rear diffuser, and an enlarged rear wing.

Each element is similar to the design shown in Audi's 2020 RS 6 GTO concept, which was created as a tribute to the 1989 Audi 90 IMSA GTO racing car.

Audi is already testing an electric RS 6 prototype, and the hard-core RS 6 Avant could be the last RS 6 with an internal combustion engine. Audi has already promised to launch the last car with an internal combustion engine in 2026.

Like Audi's R8 GT models, there will be no power upgrades. Rather, the GT model's performance gains will come from weight reduction and improved aerodynamics. Potential upgrades for the hard-core RS 6 Avant include light alloy wheels, carbon ceramic brake rotors, and carbon fiber body parts.

Under the hood should be a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, equivalent to the 621 hp of the RS 6 Avant Performance unveiled last year; the RS 6 Avant's eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive system will be tweaked in some way for the new version possible.

The hardcore RS 6 Avant should debut in 2024 and be available as a 2025 model. An electric RS 6 is also expected to arrive around the same time.
