Rezvani Retro to unveil 911-based RR1 for the first time.

A new division of Rezvani, created to produce modern cars with retro styling, is almost ready to unveil its debut, the first finished example of the Porsche 911-based RR1.

On Wednesday, the new Rezvani Retro division announced that the first production RR1 will debut on February 5.

The RR1 is based on the current 992-generation 911 and its design is inspired by the wild road and racing cars built by Kramer Racing in Germany in the 1970s, particularly the slant-nose Porsche 935 K series.

The initial design was unveiled last April, and since then Rezvani Retro has made several improvements, including tweaking the specifications.

The most significant exterior change is a return to traditional round headlights in place of the rectangular Taycan-sourced lights that characterized the original design. According to Rezvani, buyers preferred the classic round headlights because of their nostalgic appeal.

The Rezvani Retro has also improved performance since its initial launch. Buyers can choose between two turbocharger options. The base RR1 600 is a twin-turbocharged version of the 911 Carrera's 3.0-liter flat-six, modified to produce 600 hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels, with a choice of six- or seven-speed manual transmissions or a dual-clutch automatic.

For those seeking even more power, the RR1 750 is available with the 3.8-liter flat-6 twin-turbo from the 911 Turbo S. This version is only available with dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.

Production of the RR1 will be limited to 50 units worldwide and will take place at the Rezvani facility in Irvine, California. Standard pricing has not yet been announced, but Rezvani previously stated that the first five units will be sold at a discounted price of $149,000, not including donor 911 costs.
