Ford supercharges MegaZilla V-8 to over 1,000 hp

Ford has taken its already potent MegaZilla V-8 crate engine to the next level with the introduction of the supercharged MegaZilla 2.0.
The new engine, unveiled Thursday at Ford's second motorsports season-opening event in Charlotte, N.C., delivers enough grunt to rival hypercar powerplants and Mopar's Herefant crate engine for extreme built for performance.
Like its predecessor, the MegaZilla 2.0 is based on Ford's original Godzilla 7.3-liter V-8 engine, but benefits from high-performance upgrades. All of the original Megazilla's race internals are retained, including forged pistons and connecting rods, steel crankshaft, ported and polished cylinder heads, and upgraded valve springs, while forced induction is added. Forced induction comes in the form of a Gen6 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. The original Megazilla produces about 615 hp, but with the addition of the supercharger, Ford says the output of the Megazilla 2.0 will exceed 1,000 hp.
Ford does not mention weight, but the naturally aspirated Megazilla weighs about 673 pounds, and the addition of the supercharger will only add to that figure.
Ford said the Megazilla 2.0 is designed for competition use like desert racing trucks, drag race builds, and other high-performance applications off the road. For street use, Ford unveiled a new supercharged Coyote 5.0-liter V-8 crate engine on Thursday. The Coyote is found in several Ford products, and owners who already have the engine can purchase the supercharger as a stand-alone upgrade from Ford.
The new supercharged crate engine uses the specific Coyote V-8 found in the Mustang Dark Horse, which is rated at 500 horsepower. With the added supercharger, Ford estimates that this engine will produce over 800 horsepower.
Both crate engines will be available from Ford dealers and the Ford Performance Parts Catalog in Q4 2025. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
