Nissan Alya Nismo with 429 hp maximum output is unveiled.

Nissan will debut an enhanced Nismo version of its Alya electric crossover at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon this weekend.

The new Alya Nismo, which was previewed online late Thursday, is based on the current Alya e-4ORCE grade and is confirmed to be sold only in Japan.

A Nissan spokesperson told Motor Authority that sales in other markets have not been announced at this time.

The Alya Nismo prototype was spotted on the Nürburgring race track in Germany last fall, where engineers used the Kia EV6 GT as a benchmark. The Nissan is not as powerful as the 576-horsepower Kia, though.

Buyers can choose between the B6 and B9 grades, which deliver 362 hp and 429 hp peak power, respectively; the B6 has a standard 66 kwh battery and the B9 has a 91 kwh battery. The vehicle weight with the larger battery will be just under 4,900 lbs.

Range and general performance estimates for the Ariya Nismo have not been released, but Nissan has stated that the powertrain has been specifically tuned for more acceleration. The regular Ariya e-4ORCE delivers up to 389 hp and goes from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds.

It also features a variety of Nismo styling and includes an aerodynamic package that reduces drag and increases downforce. Other Nismo goodies include 20-inch wheels, sport seats for the driver and front passenger, and a sound generator that produces a sound during acceleration said to be inspired by Formula E racing cars.

The Alya Nismo is not the first Nismo EV. A few years ago, Nissan launched the Leaf Nismo, which was sold only in Japan.
