Lamborghini expects to surpass 10,000 units sold in 2023

Lamborghini announced record sales for the first half of the year and is on track to surpass 10,000 annual sales for the first time this year.

Lamborghini announced this week that it has delivered 5,341 cars in the first half of 2023. Lamborghini's total sales for 2022 will be 9,233 units, which is the current annual sales record.

The strong deliveries so far in 2023 have come from just two models, the Urus and the Uracan. Deliveries of the Aventador ended last year, and its successor, the plug-in hybrid Revuelto, will begin deliveries later this year. The Revuelto is sold out for the next two years of production.

The Urus and Huracan are sold out until mid-2024, when production of both models is scheduled to end. Plug-in hybrid successors to both models will be available in 2024, with updated models in the case of the Urus and redesigned models in the case of the Huracan.

The United States remained Lamborghini's largest market, with 1,625 units in the first six months, followed by the United Kingdom with 514 units and Germany with 511 units.

"We are really excited to have achieved these numbers with just two Lamborghini models," Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in a statement.

In an interview with Reuters published Monday, Winkelmann said that delivering 10,000 cars this year was a "feasible goal," but that there was no "obligation" to meet the target.

Rival Ferrari will likely surpass that level in 2023, having achieved its own record of 13,221 units in 2022, thanks in part to the arrival of the Prosangue SUV.
