2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Revealed, But Not Introduced in U.S.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Breaks European Specifications but Will Not Enter the U.S.

Mercedes spokesman Andrew Brudnicki confirmed to Motor Authority that the standard version of the new E-Class Wagon will not be sold in the United States. He confirmed this, but noted that an all-terrain model could be introduced in the future. The more rugged all-terrain is the only version of the current E-Class wagon sold in the US.

The 2024 E-Class Wagon will move to the same sixth-generation platform as the E-Class Sedan, which is expected to arrive in U.S. showrooms later this year. Exterior styling will largely be carried over from the sedan, with the new wagon having a drag coefficient (Cd value) of 0.26, a slight improvement over the previous generation model's Cd value of 0.27, despite a slightly larger frontal area.

Like the sedan, the wagon is also slightly larger. It is 1.1 inches wider than its predecessor and the wheelbase has increased by 0.8 inches to 116.5 inches. According to Mercedes, these changes resulted in more elbow room and a maximum cargo capacity of 21.7 cubic feet with the rear seats in place and 64.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

The wagon is equipped with the same technical features as the sedan, with up to three screens, depending on the specifications. These include a 12.8-inch digital meter cluster, a 14.4-inch center touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger screen. The latter uses a camera-based "filtering concept" to keep images out of the driver's line of sight.

A digital key feature that works with iPhone and Apple Watch devices is now available, along with the integration of third-party apps such as TikTok, Angry Birds, WebEx, and Zoom. For safety reasons, these features are only enabled when the car is stopped.

Like the sedan, the infotainment system incorporates artificial intelligence that can "learn" which functions are used on a daily basis, and the new "Energizing Comfort" wellness feature is designed to prevent motion sickness.

The 2024 E-Class wagon will be available in Europe with standard air-spring rear suspension and plug-in hybrid powertrain options, along with gasoline and diesel powertrains with integrated starter generator classified as mild hybrid The car will be sold in Europe.

Expect the sedan and wagon to be the only body styles of the sixth-generation E-Class. The coupe and convertible are expected to be replaced by a single model range called the CLE-Class, along with the C-Class coupe and convertible.
