2025 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Update Revealed

Porsche's latest 911 GT3 Touring has just been introduced as a 2022 model, but an updated version has been spotted testing.

The update appears to be a mild one, possibly consistent with the planned updates for the full 992-generation range. Updated versions of the Carrera, Carrera Cabriolet, Carrera GTS, Targa, Turbo, Turbo S, and regular GT3 are also being tested.

The first members of the updated 911 range, referred to internally as the 992.2 generation, should begin arriving soon.5]

Key to the updates will be a fully digital instrument cluster, similar to those on the Taycan and the updated 2024 Cayenne.

The 911 GT3 Touring update will also likely include tweaks to the front and rear masks, judging by the camouflage gear. The main change is that the front blinkers will be integrated within the headlights rather than on the front mask as they are now.

The headlights will also feature Porsche's latest matrix LED design, with four individual projectors instead of the single main unit used in the current design. According to Porsche, the new design, which debuted on the 2024 Cayenne, provides a more precise light pattern and increased brightness.

It is not clear what Porsche has planned for the mechanicals, but such updates usually include a slight power increase; the GT3 Touring is currently powered by a 4.0-liter flat-6 that produces 502 hp. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or six-speed manual.

Hybrid technology will be available in several variants of the updated 911 series, though probably not the GT3. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said that in 2022, the 911's hybrid system will be similar to the system in the former 919 Hybrid LMP1 racing car, not a plug-in hybrid system like the hypercar 918 Spyder. In other words, there will be no plugs, and the electric motor-generator will be used to support the purely gas engine and recover energy during braking.
