Bugatti Chiron successor to debut in 2024 and go on sale in 2026

Bugatti announced Thursday the retirement of its design chief Achim Ansheit, while also He revealed.

Ansheit has led Bugatti's design for the past 19 years, and the new hypercar, whose design has been approved, is his last assignment.

He was scheduled to resign three years ago, but Bugatti Rimac Partnership CEO Mate Rimac convinced him to stay on to complete the design of the Chiron's successor.

Anscheidt himself was replaced by Frank Hay, Bugatti's deputy design chief. He has been with Bugatti since 2008 and will continue to work with Anscheid in an advisory role to lay the foundation for Bugatti design through the next 10 years. [Achim's understanding of Bugatti's identity, inherited from Ettore, the founder of Bugatti, and in the beautiful designs of his son, Jean, is unparalleled, and his final commitment to Bugatti was to complete the next generation of hypersports car His final commitment to Bugatti was to complete the design," Rimac said in a statement. Without saying too much, this is Achim's masterpiece, the most beautiful and authentic evolution of Bugatti I could imagine."

Bugatti has not said much about the Chiron's successor, but Rimac said that in 2022 the car will be a hybrid rather than an electric hypercar. This surprised many, given that Rimac founded the EV technology company Rimac Group.

In an interview with Auto Express published the same year, Rimac revealed that around 2020, when he was first negotiating with the Volkswagen Group to take control of Bugatti and form the Bugatti Rimac Partnership, his technology company had begun work on the Chiron successor's The company revealed that it had begun development of the engine.

The need for a new engine was obvious, as Bugatti was planning to discontinue its famous quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 engine and was doing so with the Mistral, a roadster based on the Chiron.

In an interview with Auto Express, Rimac said that Bugatti was planning an electric crossover to replace the Chiron and had to convince senior management that a hybrid hypercar was the way forward.

The hybrid route would help differentiate future Bugattis from Rimac's electric hypercars. According to Rimac, Bugatti will continue to emphasize craftsmanship, analog dials, and beautiful design, while Rimac will go the modern route with more technology, including autonomous driving modes for drifting and hot lap driving.
