2024 Jaguar F-Type signals the end of the sleek sports car

The 2024 model year marks the end of the Jaguar F-Type, and it will also mark the end for Jaguar sports cars powered by internal combustion engines, as only electric vehicles will be available from 2025.

To mark the milestone, Jaguar unveiled a special edition F-Type 75 last October and on Wednesday confirmed that the car will be sold in the US as part of the final F-Type lineup for 2024.

The "75" in the name is a reference to the 75th anniversary of Jaguar's first sports car, the XK120, and like that car, the modern F-Type 75 will be available in coupe and convertible versions. There is also a standard grade and the more powerful R grade.

Both grades are powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The standard F-Type 75 produces 450 hp and the F-Type R 75 575 hp. Rear-biased all-wheel drive is standard on the F-Type 75 and on the F-Type R 75, with adjustable rear dampers and an electronically controlled differential as standard equipment.

According to Jaguar, new rear knuckles and larger wheel bearings improve steering feel. The F-Type R 75 also features modified upper ball joints for improved camber and toe rigidity and Pirelli P Zero tires, 265/35R20 front and 305/30R20 rear.

Design details unique to the special edition can be seen inside and out. There are badges on the front fenders depicting the F-Type silhouette, 20-inch wheels with five spokes on the F-Type 75 and 10 spokes on the F-Type R 75, and a unique Geola Green metallic paint job as an option. In addition, the F-Type silhouette is repeated on the center console and door sill plates.

Also available for the 2024 model year is the F-Type R Dynamic. This model is also powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine with a rated output of 450 hp, but it is driven only by the rear wheels. It also comes with 20-inch wheels, and the wheel centers (and grille badges) have been changed from red to black; the accent colors on the R-Dynamic badges have also been changed from the previous red and green combination to black and gray.

As a range-topper, the F-Type R 75 is the fastest. Jaguar claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

Deliveries of the 2024 F-Type will begin in the spring. Pricing is as follows.

2024 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic - $79,050 2024 Jaguar F-Type 75 - $91,050 2024 Jaguar F-Type R 75 - $114,150

All figures include a $1,150 destination charge, with a $2,000 premium for each additional convertible option.
