2024 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore partially revealed, 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds.

Maserati told everyone at Monterey Car Week that the GranTurismo Folgore is still on its way.

On Thursday, a video of comedian Sebastian Maniscalco riding in the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore was posted on the Italian automaker's YouTube channel.

Maserati design heads Klaus Busse and Maria Conti appeared with Maniscalco to reveal key packaging details, along with the EV's 0-60-mph time.

In the video, Busse said that the engineers packaged the GranTurismo Folgore's battery pack inside the center tunnel. This allowed the team to keep the car's weight centered and low enough for a sports car. Designers declined to confirm the car's platform, but executives previously told Motor Authority that the electric GranTurismo will ride on a Maserati-specific platform.

Executives previously told MA that the GranTurismo Forgoa will do 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds. In the video, Conti revealed that it is even faster, with the first Folgore (Maserati's nickname for its electric car) sprinting from 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph.

The electric powertrain includes three motors and delivers more than 1,200 hp. It also boasts a "class-leading" quick charge time, according to Maserati, thanks to an 800-volt electrical system that uses Formula E inverters. Conti said the GranTurismo Folgore can regain 100 miles of range on a 10-minute charge.

The interior was not revealed in the video and was blurred out, but the exterior is clearly visible. The electric GranTurismo will feature an evolved design compared to the gas model, with slimmer taillights and the familiar shape improved to be slimmer and more defined. The design is instantly recognizable as the Maserati GranTurismo.

Busse confirmed that Maserati had designed a distinctive sound for its first EV, but did not mention how it would be made.

More information about Maserati's first electric car will be available as production approaches.
