Karma Automotive has introduced new options for the 2020 model year of its existing Revelo GT electric car in preparation for the launch of the Revelo GT battery-electric car in 2021.

Karma Automotive announced Thursday new Sport and Performance packages for the Revelo GT. Both packages offer a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds, down from 4.5 seconds for the standard Revello GT.

This faster acceleration is likely due to the way power is delivered, as peak power output is not actually improved. All Revelo GTs generate 536 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque from a range-extending electric powertrain with two electric motors on the rear axle and a 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder turbocharger borrowed from a BMW i8 up front. The battery is a 28-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion unit that is estimated to increase the range from 61 to 80 miles.

Note that this performance is similar to Karma's previously announced 2020 Revero GTS. A company spokesperson stated that updates to the Revero GTS will be announced at a later date.

The Revero GT with the Sport Package features a black exterior with dark chrome accents, carbon fiber extras, and contrasting red brake calipers. The standard wheels are a dark 22-inch design with a monochrome Karma logo finish. The front fenders also feature a small "GTS" badge. With the Sport package, the Karma logo on the interior, including the logo on the steering wheel, also has a monochrome finish. Carbon fiber is also used to dress up the cabin, with "GTS" insignias on the center console and infotainment display.

With the Performance Package, the Karma's exterior remains stock, but "GTS" insignia is added to the cabin. The Performance Pack also includes a track mode, but Karma has not revealed what this drive mode actually does.

The Sport package costs $8,000, while the Performance package costs $4,000.

Karma also raised the starting sales price of the 2020 Revero GT to $144,800 from the previously announced $135,000. This is a hefty price tag considering that an all-electric, 616 hp (670 hp with launch control) Porsche Taycan Turbo can be purchased for $152,250.
