Ford GT, mileage delivery to the auction.

Modern Ford GTs are sold through a special application process that requires the buyer to promise not to sell the car for at least two years so that speculators don't make out like bandits, but as time goes on we're starting to see more and more cars come up for sale.

The latest is an untitled 2018 Ford GT with just 34 miles on the odometer that Mecum has listed for the Indy 2020 auction, which runs from July 10-18.

Mecum noted that the winning bidder will be the first registered owner of the GT, as the car will be sold by a Ford dealer with an MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin).

Like all current generation Ford GTs, this car is powered by a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V-6 twin-turbo engine that sends power to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. As one of the early models, the output is listed at 647 horsepower. Ford raised the GT to 660 hp for the 2020, giving it a wider torque curve.

The GT was famously built to bring Ford a class win at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans; the GT was never able to repeat that success, and Ford retired the race car after the 2019 season. However, Ford still builds customer cars and has introduced the GT Mk II, a track-only model with 700 hp and more aggressive aerodynamic aids.

Mecum did not list a pre-auction estimate, but those wishing to obtain the new GT directly from Ford are expected to pay at least $500,000; at least half of the 1,350 production slots have already been filled, so buyers will be able to get their hands on Ford's supercar want to get their hands on one, they may have to start looking long and hard at auctions.
