Hyundai reveals the secrets of its Prophecy EV concept.

It was supposed to be one of the stars of the Geneva International Motor Show, but Hyundai's stunning Prophecy concept was only shown online when the event was canceled due to the outbreak of the Covid 19 coronavirus in Switzerland in early March.

Nevertheless, the concept's gorgeous lines and mysterious atmosphere were not affected in the slightest, and Hyundai has released additional photos and information.

The Prophecy is an electric car with a curvy, almost retro design reminiscent of the 1950s Saab 92. Hyundai specifically notes that the inspiration comes from vintage cars from the 1920s and 1930s.

The design is an evolution of the Sensuous Sportiness design language first introduced in the 2018 Le Fil Rouge concept, elements of which are intended for the Korean automaker's future EVs. According to Hyundai representatives, the very name of the concept emphasizes that it is a precursor to elements that will be developed in the future. Pixel headlights and propeller-shaped aerodynamic wheels are two examples that will eventually be on the market.

The vehicle is based on Hyundai's first platform designed for EVs, a modular design called E-GMP. This platform debuted in the 2019 45 Concept and will soon appear in the production version of the Wedge SUV Concept. Due to the compact size of the E-GMP powertrain components, Hyundai has allowed designers to eliminate the center console and most of the engine compartment. It is stated that the platform allows to abandon.

Designers made the most of this to create a spacious Prophecy interior, which, like the exterior, is also made in retro-themed. Yet it remains high-tech: a joystick replaces the traditional steering wheel, and a large digital screen occupies almost the entire width of the dashboard. Designers sought to create a relaxed feeling in the cabin, which is emphasized by dark colors and natural materials.

The cabin also features Hyundai's new Smart Posture Care System (SPCS), which can offer the driver an ideal seating position based on their height and weight. The system can optimally adjust the seats, steering wheel, mirrors and head-up display. When the driver needs to take a break from driving, the car can stop and go into relaxation mode, where the seats recline, the dashboard swivels up and a screen that can display entertainment content provides the driver with an optimal view. This design will be useful when fully automated driving technology becomes a reality.

Finally, Hyundai has equipped the Prophecy with an air filtration system with fine dust sensors. When the dust level in the cabin reaches a certain level, this system draws air from the outside environment, filters it, cleans it, and feeds it back into the car. This system is always active, even when no one is in the car. Thus, every time you get into the car, there is always a fresh breeze in the cabin."
