2026 Audi A7 sedan spy again

The Audi A6 has become an electric car, but Audi fans looking for a gas-powered medium-sized sedan, there are still options in the future.

Automakers are cooking a new A7 sedan for the segment, and camouflage prototypes have been discovered.

The current A7 is only offered as a liftback, with the exception of China, where the stretched A7 sedan is also available. For the next generation, there are both sedans and wagons, and this time the sedan should be offered globally.

A prototype of a new A7 wagon in the body style that Audi calls Avant has also been discovered recently.

The first members of the new A7 range are set to debut early next year, Audi confirmed on May 11. Cars arriving in the US must arrive as 2026 models. In addition to the sedan, the wagon should also reach the United States, perhaps only in the guise of a high-performance RS7 Avant and soft loader A7 all-Road.

Audi did not mention specific details of the new A7, but the automaker expects to use the Volkswagen Group's Premium Platform Combustion (Ppc) platform, designed for premium cars with gas and plug-in hybrid powertrain. The platform debuted with the new Audi A5.

The prototype of the a7 shows a more sporty and sculpted design than the outgoing A6. It has a large, protruding grille at the front, and a wide, muscular waist at the rear, which appears to integrate the side vents under the taillights. Interestingly, Audi also appears to be planning a return to the exposed exhaust tip, only on one side of the rear fascia of the regular model. The cabin could have an abundance of digital screens, as seen in the latest A5 and Q5, as well as the A6E-Tron and Q6E-Tron. For those who dislike touchscreens, AI-backed voice commands will allow them to learn the driver's preferences and how to speak for almost any task that typically requires screen input.

The new A7 range will be one of the last Audis to be equipped with a gas engine, as the automaker has confirmed that it will launch electric vehicles after 2026.1

In addition, the testout is a redesigned Q7 midsize SUV, which is also expected to offer a gas and plug-in hybrid powertrain.
