Hypercars focused on trucks in Praga Bohemia will start delivery

Many performance cars are billed as race cars for the road, but few deserve that claim more than Praga's Bohemian Hypercar.

Praga is a historic Czech company that today manufactures race cars in the automotive sector, and in 2016 it was acquired from the race car R1R. It was the first road car to be produced. There were only 1 prototype example of the r1R, but based on the experience of the project, Praga spent the past 7 years developing a more extreme new road car. The resulting boema is finally being delivered to the customer.

The first customer car was delivered to the Dutch owner on Friday. This number was chosen during Bohema's debut in 1933 to mark the 89th anniversary of Praga's historic victory in the Czechoslovak 1,000-mile race in 2022. The cars are manufactured at a pace of about 20 units a year, some for the United States with a total of 24 units, and deliveries are expected to begin here next spring. The price of 1 is 143 million euros (about 150 million dollars).

In the 2 years since Bohema was first released to the public, Praga has made several changes, including further improvements to its performance. The peak output of 700 hp comes from the Richfield-tuned Nissan GT-R engine, with modifications to the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-6 that still includes a dry-sump lubrication system and titanium exhaust that runs from the turbo back. Praga said he chose the engine because of its ability to provide greater power in combination with strong reliability credentials.

The engine is attached to the back of the cabin and paired with the Heurand sequential transmission, and the drive goes only to the rear wheels. The lightweight construction, which includes a carbon fiber tab and a carbon fiber body panel, means that the curb weighs only about 2,300 pounds and has a better power-to-weight ratio than most supercars and some race cars.

Aerodynamics also plays an important role in car performance. Extensive testing in the wind tunnel of the Formula 1 team has yielded an aero package that delivers nearly 2,000 pounds of downforce at speeds of 155mph. This enables bohema to provide up to 2 g of lateral acceleration during cornering.

Other performance claims include a 0〜62mph time of 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 197mph. Praga also said that Bohemian can provide lap times that match GT3 race cars with road tires and have a genuine ability to get in and out of the track. Some practicality is also included, such as a pair of custom-fitted luggage pieces that fit in the side pod.

To ensure that the car is still flexible on the road, Praga developed a suspension system with adjustable dampers with push-rod operation mounted horizontally for maximum movement, while minimizing the height of the body. With a mass under the spring of less than 400 pounds, Praga said it was able to forego a more complex adaptive suspension system. The wheels measure front 18 inches, rear 19 inches and are housed within a six-piston caliper clamped down on a 15-inch carbon ceramic rotor.
