Lamborghini holds World Endurance Championship progam on hold

Lamborghini is competing with the SC63LMDh and Huracán GT3 race cars in both the IMSA Sports Car Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship.

However, the automaker announced on May 11. 22, it was announced that the World Endurance Championship program for next season will be put on hold.

In a statement, Lamborghini said the WEC's new rules, which require Lamborghini to field at least two cars in the Premier hypercar class competing with the SC63, were not consistent with the current strategy.

Lamborghini has not indicated when or if it plans to return to the WEC on the SC63. However, the SC63 will also compete in the Premier GTP class of the Sports Car Championship next season, Lamborghini can continue to develop the car.

Lamborghini also said it will withdraw from the Wec's lower LMGT3 class next season, which was previously competing with the Huracan GT3. The decision will allow the automaker to focus on developing a gt8 race car based on the V-3 plug-in hybrid supercar, a successor to the recently announced Temerario and Huracan.

The new Temerario GT3 race car is currently being tested and will be released next year.

Lamborghini's current wec partner, Iron Lynx, will team up with Mercedes-Benz AMG in the Lmgt3 class next season. It is the first time that AMG will compete in the WEC with a race car based on a GT sports car.

Another new entry for the WEC next season is the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH, which will compete in the hypercar class 1. Aston Martin fields Valkyrie in cooperation with the center of American racing.
