Porsche is recalling some 718 and 911 models due to a faulty wheel bolt on the center lock

Porsche issued a recall and do not drive warning on certain 718 and 911 models because of concerns that the wheels could fall.

The problem has to do with some wheel bolts not being built to the correct specifications, which can result in loss of steering control or wheel disengagement.

Porsche said that if a broken wheel bolt is present, the driver will immediately notice the vibration.

According to Porsche's production records, only a small batch of vehicles will be affected. According to the recall notice released by NHTSA on May 10. 28 (recall campaign number 24V809000), in the United States there are 1,851 affected vehicles, all from the 2024 model.

Specific models include the 718 Cayman GT4RS and 718 Spider RS, and certain 911 models.

Porsche said it was first aware of several incidents related to the issue on May 9 and that it was still determining the cause.

This remedy includes the dealer checking the center lock wheel bolts and replacing non-specification parts if necessary.
