Nissan Z recalled because the pedestrian detection sensor may not work

Nissan has recalled 4,036 z sports cars. This is because malfunctioning of the sensor can increase the risk of injury to pedestrians in the event of a collision.

The recall, which includes the 2023 and 2024 models, is due to a pedestrian detection sensor on the right side that can be reversed in the wiring harness on the front bumper. This will prevent the pop-up hood, a function designed to minimize the likelihood of injury to pedestrians struck by a car, from operating as intended, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Nissan estimated that 100% of the recalled vehicles had this problem, and was discovered by technicians when the trouble code was thrown, but told NHTSA that it was not aware of any accidents, injuries, or warranty claims related to the problem.

The remedy is the replacement of the front bumper harness, which is done free of charge by the dealer. Nissan plans to mail the owner's notice letter. 12. The Z combined elements of its car's platform with updates like the modern infotainment system and the twin-turbo V-6 engine to arrive at the 2023 model as an alternative to the long-standing Nissan 370Z. The package is wrapped in styling that more directly references past Z models, especially the original Datsun 240Z and the 1990s Z32.

In 2024, Nissan added a more truck-focused Z Nismo model to its lineup, boasting an extra 20 horsepower and a host of chassis upgrades, and a heritage edition celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Z-car. The report that Nissan filed a trademark application for the name "Z Warrior" indicates that the Z Safari off-loader may be on the way.
