Brembo acquires Orleans for $405 million.

Brembo announced Friday the acquisition of Orleans Racing, a well-known manufacturer of high-performance suspension components for cars and motorcycles.

According to the company, the $405 million purchase price is the largest Brembo has paid to acquire another company, the company said, adding that the deal is still subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in early 2025.

“Öhlins is a strong fit with Brembo,” Brembo Chairman Matteo Tiraboschi said in a statement. Öhlins is a world-renowned brand with a solid business and an unrivalled reputation, both on the race track and on the road.”

Founded in 1976 and based near Stockholm, Sweden, Öhlins designs and manufactures a wide range of suspension components for the aftermarket and motorsports, and over the years has been in MotoGP, Formula 1, World Superbike, NASCAR, and other racing series. The company's dampers have been used by automakers from Ariel Nomad to Polestar 2.

Ohlins employs about 500 people at two manufacturing facilities, two R&D facilities (one each in Sweden and Thailand), and distribution and test centers in the US, Germany, Sweden, and Thailand.

The company's combined racing and road car experience should complement Brembo's supply of brakes for major racing series and high-performance road cars. Brembo-branded braking systems can be found on everything from the Subaru BRZ tS to the Bugatti Boride. The acquisition also means that Brembo will continue its entry into motorcycle components, following its acquisition of motorcycle brake specialists SBS Friction and J.Juan in 2021.
