2026 Range Rover Electric spotted at the Ring

For years, companies have offered electric conversions of the classic Range Rover, but JLR is finally releasing its own electric Range Rover based on the latest generation of the iconic luxury SUV.

A mostly camouflaged prototype of the Range Rover Electric has been spotted testing on the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany ahead of its scheduled debut later this year.

The Range Rover Electric will be available for order starting in late 2023, with deliveries beginning next year. Judging by the prototype's camouflage gear, the only visual cue will be the unique grille. There may also be changes to the underbody to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

Range Rover Electric will use a modified version of the Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) platform that underpins gas and plug-in hybrid models, and these vehicles will share a production line at JLR's plant in Solihull, UK will be shared

Batteries and electric motors will be manufactured at a separate plant in Wolverhampton, UK

The electric version of the MLA platform will feature an 800-volt architecture, meaning support for DC fast charging will be included JLR has previously confirmed that it will also include support for wireless updates and apps designed to maximize range.

Prospective buyers will not have to worry about reduced off-road performance. Prototypes are currently being tested in extreme weather conditions, including temperatures ranging from -40 degrees Celsius to over 120 degrees Celsius.

A benefit that Range Rover Electric owners will enjoy is the lack of engine noise; JLR has announced that the vehicle will be its quietest SUV to date and will feature a proprietary active noise-canceling system to further refine the cabin and comfort.

More JLR EVs will be added to the lineup, including the Range Rover Sport Electric and the electric successor to the Range Rover Velar. The first of a new generation of electric Jaguars will also be launched in 2025.
