Jeep Gladiator wrist mod with Vigilante 4x4 and maximum output of 1,000 hp

Vigilante 4x4 builds a number of classic Jeeps based on custom chassis designed to support up to 1,000 hp.

The Johnson City, Texas-based company specializes in Jeep models sold between 1964 and 1991, often referred to as full-size Jeeps, and its latest offering is a prime example of the vehicles it builds.

First spotted by Motor1, the vehicle of interest is an original Jeep Gladiator pickup truck that can be ordered with various modern Hemi V-8s. This is a 1966 model, powered by a 485-horsepower 6.4-liter V-8. However, it can also be equipped with a 707-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 known as the Hellcat, with a 1,000-horsepower option. Buyers can choose manual or automatic transmissions for each powertrain.

The original Jeep body was not designed to handle such high output. Therefore, Vigilante 4x4 created its own chassis by 3D scanning the original chassis to ensure proper installation. In addition to the latest powertrain, Vigilante 4x4 also installed the latest suspension and braking hardware.

For the 1966 Gladiator, the Vigilante 4x4 added a four-link suspension with Eibach coil springs and Fox dampers. Stopping power was provided by six-piston Baer brakes housed in 17-inch wheels.

A full restoration was also part of the restomod process for the Vigilante 4x4. The original body is sandblasted and coated, then rebuilt using original parts and, in some cases, new parts made to resemble the originals. This restomod features a blue exterior and cream interior. The cabin is covered in leather and Alcantara.

Other popular restomods offered by Vigilante 4x4 include the original Wagoneer and Cherokee. In Gladiator, the starting price is $295,000.
