2023 Chrysler 300C to bring back big V-8 power before production ends

The iconic nameplate is back in the Chrysler lineup.

On Tuesday, the 2023 Chrysler 300C revealed itself with a large V-8, special badging, and a limited run of just 2,200 units. Priced at $55,000, it will be the last 300 model. The automaker confirmed that production of the 300 will end with the 2023 model year.

As an appropriate send-off to the 300, Chrysler shoved a naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V-8 engine (485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque) under the hood and the 300C was born. If the name sounds familiar, that's because the 300C was originally introduced in 1955 and revived in 2005, only to disappear again after the 2020 model year. The 392 cubic inch engine launches the 300C from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds, gets through the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 160 mph.

Loud and proud, the 300C is equipped with dual exhaust with electronic dump. Upgraded red four-piston Brembo calipers reign supreme on the 300C, along with 14.2-inch front and 13.8-inch vented brake rotors. 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels via a limited-slip rear differential. power to the rear wheels via a limited-slip rear differential. Active dampers balance ride and handling.

Despite the bigger engine, the 300C will be a sleeper with only slight exterior changes to alert those with a keen eye that it is not a rental 300 with a V-6 engine. Black chrome accents, new three-color 300C badging, and model-specific 20-inch forged aluminum wheels are the only clear visual differences that indicate this is a special edition. Chrysler will offer the 300C in only three colors: gloss black, velvet red, and bright white.

The interior continues the special edition's understated character with a black leather-wrapped dashboard, Laguna leather seats, and the 300C logo embossed on the front seatbacks. Silver stitching throughout the cabin is combined with carbon fiber and piano black trim.

All 300Cs feature an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, and automatic emergency braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, and Active Lane Control.

Chrysler has announced that 2,000 of the 2023 300Cs will be introduced in the U.S., with the remaining 200 coming to the Canadian market.
