Bishimoto's electric Porsche 935 K3V pays a visit to Jay Leno's garage

California tuner Bisimoto and the mad genius behind the insane build, Bizi Ezerioha, recently visited Jay Leno's garage with an all electric Porsche 935.

Known for its distinctive aerodynamic bodywork, the Porsche 935 was one of the most successful racing cars of the 1970s and 1980s. However, Bici defied convention and created a road-going replica based on the 911, swapping the original flat-six engine for electric power. The goal was to create a fast car that was also environmentally friendly.

"I feel I can perform without feeling guilty," said Bisi to Jay, who test drove the pink and gray Porsche.

The car started out as a 1984 Porsche 911 that was gathering dust in a garage in Palm Springs, California; since the 935 is derived from the 911, this was a logical starting point. Bici rebuilt it with Kremer-style 935 bodywork, with liquid-cooled battery packs placed front and center of the chassis

, and a new, more modern, and more efficient 935 bodywork with a new, more powerful, and more powerful battery pack

.

Bici noted that these packs, along with the electric motor also mounted in the center of the bodywork, gave this 935 better weight distribution than the original: the 935, which carried the 911's DNA, had its engine mounted in the rear, which skewed its weight considerably toward the rear. However, Bici claims that the car's front-rear weight distribution is almost 50-50.

The 935 is powered by a Tesla motor with an aftermarket control unit. It sends 636 hp to the rear wheels.According to Bisi, the tuning process was similar to an ECU reflash for a gasoline car and required many software changes. For example, the rev limit was raised from 15,000 rpm to 18,200 rpm.

Bici mounted the charge port on the hood where the fuel filler is normally located. The car has a J1772 port for Level 2 AC charging, which Bisi says takes about nine hours; with a CHAdeMO DC fast-charge port (the one used in the Nissan Leaf), he claims, the 935 can be charged in 36 minutes. [Also, be sure to check out Bisi's other projects, including an 850-horsepower twin-turbo 911 and a 1,000-horsepower Honda Civic wagon.
