The last non-electrified Lamborghini will be produced in 2022.

Lamborghini's Huracán and Urus will each see two variants unveiled this year, making them the last Lamborghinis to go on sale without being electrified.

The new variants will be unveiled in the coming months, after which the "era of the internal combustion engine" will end in Sant'Agata, Lamborghini said Thursday.

To be clear, internal combustion engines in Lamborghinis will be around for years to come, but electrification will begin in 2023, when the Aventador's successor arrives with a V12 plug-in hybrid.

This news is not a big surprise, as Lamborghini has stated that it will be a fully electrified brand by the end of 2024. Lamborghini has also promised to add electric cars to its lineup.

Lamborghini's first EV will be the fourth model line and will be available in the second half of the decade. This model is expected to be a 2+2 grand tourer similar to the modern-day Espada.

Lamborghini did not say what the new Huracan and Urus variants planned for this year will be, but there are already some clues: a high-riding Huracan based on the 2019 Sterrato concept was tested The Aventador has been spotted testing the car. There is also likely to be a special Huracan that will be the final model with a purely internal combustion engine, similar to last year's Aventador Ultimae, which concluded the Aventador run.

In the case of the Urus, an updated version is known to be in testing. There may also be a rumored hard-core model.

In other Lamborghini news, the Aventador will be back in production, albeit for a short time. An additional 15 Aventador Ultimae will need to be built to cover the 15 lost in transit due to the sinking of the cargo ship Felicity Ace in the Atlantic in early March.
